I offer my darkness to you
And may it swallow you whole
Engulf your being
Invisible seeing
Of the heaviest that falls at my feet
And the dog that lay dead in the street.
I walk alone
I walk with thieves
I walk with liars
Killers, hiding bad tattoos
with long sleeves
I forfeit the failure of my candid repose
As I sit beside the glove box
With nothing but
matches and a hose.
Been born of dread
Born from the undead
Born to a life that was never lived
But carried by assault instead.
I offer my darkness to you
Hold it up, so you can see
That whilst you maybe free
You know whatever or whoever I was
Is not me.
If you accept my offering
You can put an end to the suffering
My veins bleed ink
My tears spill bloody and raw
I offer my darkness to you
And may it swallow you whole.
I’m born of bracken
And soil and coal.
Dusty,
Smearing my skin with ash
Easy to mistake me as trash.
I carry the burden of all the deaths,
The lies of the sodden
And the tears of the forgotten.
I’m neither dark nor light
Day or night
I’m shadow in flight.
And as fast as the crow flies
Another loved one dies.
I offer my darkness to you
And may you swallow it whole
May I die on the altar
And be reborn with another soul.
