Very “black mirror”-like. Chilling. Well done.

This part got me...

“I love talking to you,” one message read.

“You’re beautiful,” he wrote.

She smiled at the screen.

Neither of them looked up.

Or said a single word.

Seen.

This one especially hit the chord

With AI coming up, swallowing everything even seen wont be seen 😭

Hahaha which might explain why no one knows who is reading the messages. Seen

My goodness, this is one of your best, Samira! Beautifully written, succinct and quite chilling. I have a feeling you have seen the future.

Thank you so much! Eerie and chilling was my aim 🙃 and I do believe I have seen the future 🖤

Yes, eerie, definitely. Swept along in your words, I could see it unfolding exactly as you have written. Mostly because I see it every day.

When my daughter, grandchildren, and even my husband sit at a table with me, they are glued to their phones. I just sit and stare at them until it becomes uncomfortable. So I clear the table or just walk away.

Sometimes, I ask "what are you reading, or watching" hoping to open a conversation about what they like. I usually get a two-word answer and they are right back staring at the phones.

I want to say, "I won't be here forever. You might miss talking to me after I die." BUT I never say it. Too much like using guilt to wake someone up. I just can't do it, because they don't have my perspective and wouldn't have a clue what about my warnings. C'est la vie....

I so hear you on this. It really is sad and I feel very passionate about this disconnection which seems to be a recurring theme in my scribblings 🙃

I think it's on the minds of many people. It's just that you craft your words in a way that reaches people. Makes them think. The disconnection from my grandchildren because of their social media addictions weighs on me. I wonder, if in the future, they will even think about what they have missed in life. We are three generations apart, since I adopted my daughter who was the child of a niece. So, I have a feeling they are just too far removed from the lives older people remember. At least some young people, like you, are aware of the dangers of constant screens. And yet, here we are. Both of us writing and posting every day. It's just that it's a way to connect when there is no connection in life. I'd choose a live person, if one were sitting here :-)

I truly feel this. Thank you for your kind words about my scribblings reaching people. Means so much to me xo
